The O'Connell Lab conducts research on broad-scale ecosystem resiliency and conservation through data science, remote sensing, field ecology, and ecological experiments. We typically focus on wetland-dominated landscapes and largely use open-source tools to conduct our science.  Active research focuses on understanding spatiotemporal pattern and process in wetland plant productivity, phenology, carbon cycling, water dynamics, and other environmental gradients.  Our lab advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion in science.  See the Publications page to find copies of our papers. See the GitHub page to find project code.

We're hiring  field technicians for inland depressional wetland carbon research. This job is still open. To apply, see our ad.

We're happy to host Stengl-Wyer Postdoctoral Scholars. For more information on this award, see here.  Feel free to reach out with potential project ideas.
